::Board Luv :: a brief HISTORY::

    Board Luv all started in the summer of 2007 when the waves on the East Coast in New Jersey sucked. Owner Paul Franke bought a used 6'4"  Lost Mayhem short board in a local shop because of an anticipated "good hurricane season".  With the waves  not turning out the way the forecasters said it would, Paul decided to pass his free time (which would have been spent surfing) planning out some art to draw onto the top half of the short board.  Being an accomplished artist and designer, he felt this would spark a new found interest. Out of a bad hurricane season came a work of modern pop art which sparked an idea.  Board Luv was born. 
    His next project was for a friend Erica who resides in Bradley Beach and rides a 9'0" long board.  Incorporating some styles and icons of traditional long boarding Paul created a "nose job" complete with a trippy hippie sun, nice clean rolling wave, and a flock of hibiscus flowers.  In true spirit of the ocean, a small sea turtle was painted heading to the surf to represent herself.
    So far Board Luv has been a local NJ success and popularity of the Luv is growing.  Board Luv has already hosted and carried out 2 local art shows in Asbury Park showcasing 2 other local artists.  There are more art shows on the way in the future to help promote Board Luv and the local NJ art scene.
    Board Luv was not intended to make money or profit but to create works of art for individuals on their own existing boards.  In this age of trends, the rat race, and lack of individualism, Board Luv  promotes  the message:

::About my Services::
      Board Luv will customize any board you have (surf, snow, or skate...even water skis, snow skis, wake boards, and skim boards etc...).  Think of Board Luv like a tattoo artist for your surfboard.  I am able to make house calls (additional gas fee applies) or take your board to my studio and complete it in a timely manner in MY own facilities.  I try to use environmentally friendly products whenever possible.  All of the paint pens that I use are water based, non toxic, and contain no VOC's (volatile organic compounds).  I do most of the work freehand and use some templates and stencils for intricate detail work to make your custum piece the best it can be.  I personalize and customize your board to what YOU want it to be.  If you are unsure about what exactly you want, I will work with you to come up with a design that suits your taste and style.  If you are thinking of hiring Board Luv and are not sure what to get done we have some pre-designed logo's (royalty free), art, and stencils which can help make the styling decision easier.  I also occasionally hire other artists and cartoonists to collaborate of various projects.
    The possibilities are endless of what Board Luv can do for you.  I can create anything; except for maybe a self portrait of you because we all know that's just selfish.
    Most of the artwork is created using a combination of paint pens and sprayed paint/airbrushing.  You can mix and match what you may want.  If you wanted some art in paint pens and sprayed paint with the addition to some die cut vinyl graphics of your favorite surf, snow, or skate companies it is all possible.
    All graphics that are applied to any board in which Board Luv produces are guaranteed to stay on the board with normal use for one year.  Just like a tattoo we offer touch up service; most of the time free of charge depending upon the extent of the touch up; but with normal use rarely do you need touch ups.  Our prices are more than reasonable and anything you get is custom produced just for you, so YOU stand out in the crowd of                                                                                                                          EVERYONE ELSE.


::Repairs of surf boards and snowboards::
    Board Luv can repair dings, dents, cracks, broken noses (not from bar fights though), and many other typical repairs in surf boards.  Depending on the severity of the repair the board may need to be sent out to be professionally repaired by our trusted ding and dent specialist.   I have experience in epoxy repair as well as fiberglass repairs.
    In snowboards Board Luv can repair base gouges/damage, edge separation, top sheet peeling, top sheet chipping, and can edge and hot wax your board.

My name is Paul Franke. I'm 26 and I grew up in Monmouth County NJ; 10 minutes from the beach.  I have an associates degree in Graphic Design and a bachelors degree in Industrial Design.  I am an artist, a designer, a photographer, and an environmentalist.  I surf, skate, snowboard, ski, snowshoe, hike, camp, ride fast motorcycles, listen to loud music, promote my company, throw killer grass roots local art shows for local artists, believe Asbury Park NJ is being revived, I meet all kinds of great people, and I attempt to travel the world in search of things I have never seen before.  I started Board Luv to revive art in my own life as well as spread a positive message about modern art, and to create some really intriguing designs on boards.
